In yet another attack, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Anil Baijal enjoys unlimited powers without any responsibility and accountability due to which Delhi is facing "strange" governance scenario. He demanded that all the powers that the state government had during his Congress predecessor Sheila Dikshit's tenure should be restored.

Speaking during a Delhi Assembly session on Friday, he compared "powers" of the present Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government with the then Congress government in the national Capital. "Sheila Dikshit's government had the power to transfer the postings of officers. Her government could appoint good officers in important positions and transfer or penalize the non-performing officers. But, this power was snatched away from us in May 2015," he said.

"In Sheila Dikshit's tenure, there was no requirement of sending every file to the hon'ble L-G, therefore the hon'ble LG was not able to interfere in every decision of the elected government. But, now the L-G asks for every file and raises frivolous objections that cause unnecessary delay in taking important decisions," Kejriwal said. The chief minister said that a proposal for Delhi Health Corporation was rejected by the L-G with a note "I don't think it's a good idea." "Which rule was it violating?" he asked, adding that by not filling vacancies and saving corrupt officers, the Lt Governor wants to end the work happening in the national Capital.

He further demanded that the services should be handed over to the elected government and vigilance powers can only be exercised by the government elected by the people.
