Kranti gang sharpshooter carrying award of Rs 25,000, arrested by Special Cell of Delhi Police

The special cell of Delhi Police has arrested a sharpshooter of the infamous Kranti gang after a brief exchange of fire. The encounter took place late on Tuesday night in south-West Delhi's Dhaula Kuan area. The accused carried a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head.

The accused Jitendra alias Jitu had taken over the gang after members of the Special Cell had gunned down four members of the Kranti gang in an encounter in South Delhi. The police had received information that Jitu would be coming in his Hyundai Creta car would be coming near Dhaula Kuan metro station to meet his associate. The car came and stopped at the metro. After sometime a person walked out. As he started to move away the police team followed him, he whipped out his pistol and pointed towards the police personnel but criminal was pinned down and over powered by the police officers.

Simultaneously, police team directed the other occupants of the Creta car to come out, instead of coming out of vehicle the two occupants fired at the police team. One of the Constables sustained a gun shot on his bullet proof vest which he was wearing. Police team fired back at the tyre of the Creta car. The criminal reversed the Creta car and bumped into a car of public person and drove rashly from the spot. 

Police team chased the vehicle keeping in mind the safety of public persons. The Creta car was found abandoned in a desolated spot in the area of Mahipal pur. The vehicle was seized. "Jitender alias Jitu alias Banja is previously involved in more than 25 criminal cases including murder, attempt to murder,robbery , carjacking of Haryana and Delhi. A sophisticated pistol with six cartridges and Hyndai Creta car was seized," said Pramod Kushwah, DCP, Special Cell.

In June, the Special Cell in an encounter gunned down member of the Kranti gang including their leader Rajesh Bharti and Sanjit Vidhroh, Umesh Don and Viku Ghevra. The accused told the police he is active member of Kranti gang and after the death of its kingpin Rajesh Bharti he became the leader of the gang. 

He is involved in 8 cases of murder, attempt to murder, robbery and carjacking of Delhi and Haryana. In the year, 2015 he was arrested by South West District police and remained in jail and in April, 2016 he was released on bail. He is a college dropout. He was pursuing Computer Science and discontinued his studies when he was the student of 2nd year in the year 2009 as he fell in the bad company and started committing petty offences. With the passage of time he graduated to committing more heinous crimes along with his associates. In the year 2014 he murdered a person due to rivalry and was arrested by the police.

TOOK CHARGE
