Karti Chidambaram stays in CBI's custody till March 12

Karti Chidambaram, son of senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, will be grilled for three more days by the CBI in connection with the INX Media bribery case.

A Delhi court extended on Friday his custody till March 12. He was produced before the court after the expiry of his three-day custody. His bail plea will be heard on March 15.

Karti is in CBI custody after being accused of receiving kickbacks a decade ago to have foreign investment into the INX Media group cleared by using his then Union Finance Minister father's influence.

Additional Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said Karti's custodial interrogation was necessary as "new incriminating materials" have been found against him.

He said a CD had been recovered from Chennai and it had to be sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) for examination.
