Citing security reasons, the staffers at a private school in Noida thrashed a journalist who had gone to the school to deliver his daughter's lunch. The man alleged that despite repeated requests, the school administration did not allow him to enter and the security staffers beat him black and blue. A police complaint in this regard has been registered.

Security at all Delhi schools has been stepped up following the death of a seven-year-old student of the Ryan International School in Gurugram inside the school premises.

On Monday around 9 am, Yusuf Saifi, 37, correspondent with a Hindi news channel, went to the RD Public School to hand over lunch to his daughter, a Class VII student.

"My daughter had forgotten to carry her lunch to school, so I went to the school to give it to her. First, the security guards did not allow me to enter. They then said outside food was not allowed into the school," said Saifi, who is recuperating at a private hospital in Noida. He further said, "When I insisted on meeting the school principal and the administration, they guided me to the school's gallery. School owner Karamveer Singh came to the reception along with some other staffers. They first argued with me and then started to thrash me."

"Singh and the other persons took me into his room and thrashed me. They pulled my neck and hit me with blunt objects," Saifi said. He suffered injuries on his forehead, neck and back.

Karamveer, however, said, "After the Ryan incident, the district administration has issued stern instructions to not allow any outsider or outside food into the school premises during working hours. Our staffers were only following orders. But this man started arguing with them and threatened us to get the school shut, using his influence."
