A journalist was killed in southeast Delhi's Govindpuri area when he sustained fatal injuries as a biker rammed into him near a market place on Sunday evening. Police have arrested the biker.
According to the police, the incident took place when the deceased, identified as 46-year-old Raj Kumar Ray, a resident of Faridabad in Haryana, had gone to purchase fish from C Lal chowk market in Govindpuri area.
"It was around 5:20 pm when Ray was hit by a bike, being driven rashly by a teenager named Dalip. As the bike hit Ray, he fell on the road and sustained a critical head injury. Soon, he started bleeding from his ears and fell unconscious. A PCR call was made and the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital from where he was shifted to AIIMS Trauma Centre where he was declared brought dead," said Romil Baanya, DCP southeast.
The accused Dalip is a school dropout and is 18-years-old. "The accused was arrested for causing death due to negligence and he was not found to be involved in any previous criminal case. A case against him has been registered at Govindpuri police station in this regard and his motorcycle was seized," police said.
