Delhi Police busted an international narcotics drug cartel by arresting three African nationals, including a woman from whom they recovered 7.5 kg of high-grade heroin.
Police received information on Sunday regarding the accused, Ekene Kenneth Onyetobe of African origin, to be involved in the supply of heroin in Punjab and Delhi, who would come to ISBT Kashmiri Gate at 11 pm to board a bus for Punjab, to deliver a consignment of heroin to a Punjab-based drug dealer.
A trap was laid near ISBT Kashmiri Gate where Kenneth was nabbed on Monday. He was found carrying 3 kg of high-grade heroin in his shoulder bag.
Upon further interrogation, he disclosed the names of others involved.
"Marium, the other accused was arrested from Mukarba Chowk bus stand on Wednesday and upon searching, 2.5 kg of high-grade heroin was recovered from her possession, which she was going to deliver to a Punjab drug dealer as per the directions of the third accused, Martin, who was living in Uttam Nagar," said a senior special cell officer
A raid was conducted in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday at Uttam Nagar and the third accused, Martin was arrested. Upon searching him, 2 kg heroin was recovered from him.
Police also recovered a bag having secret cavity used for transportation of heroin from Afghanistan by air route and a fake passport.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the drugs would come in from Afghanistan. The Afghan couriers used to hand over the consignments of heroin to members of this cartel in Delhi which was further delivered to Punjab. They also used to send consignments of heroin to other countries through courier companies.
Further investigation to nab other members involved in the racket in Delhi and Punjab and to unearth the whole cartel is underway.
