In dramatic midnight operation in Ghaziabad, the Delhi Police today rescued a child, who was kidnapped from Dilshad Garden in east Delhi last month.
Special commissioner RP Upadhayay has confirmed that the child is safe and has been united with his parents.
The incident took place on January 25, when two bike-borne attackers stopped the toddler’s school bus, shot the driver and kidnapped the 5-year-old in Dilshad Garden area.
The Delhi Police conducted the rescue operation on a tip-off given by the Ghaziabad Police.
The midnight operation went on for an hour in which an accused was also killed. The kidnappers were hiding in a rented apartment in Ghaziabad’s Sahibabbad area. The accused were armed and opened fire on police party and also threatened to harm the child.
In self defence and to rescue child, the police retaliated. Two kidnappers were injured during the firing and have been sent to Delhi’s GTB Hospital. The third kidnapper, identified as Ravi has been declared dead.
