A 19-year old woman, who is the recipient of an academic award, was allegedly gang-raped in Haryana’s Rewari area. The woman’s family alleged that the police, instead of tracing the accused, are raising their suspicion on them and also questioning why and how the three accused were known to her.

Senior police officers said one of the accused had called up the victim’s father and informed him about her lying unconscious near Kanina bus stand. “The matter needs to be investigated,” said the officer. However, no arrests have been made yet.

The woman’s parents also raised question on the government’s ‘Beti Bachao! Beti Padhao’ agenda, stating it would make no difference if security is at stake.

The woman claims she had had gone to attend her coaching class when she met two of the accused — Pankaj and Manish. They struck a conversation with her casually before offering her water. It is likely that the drink was laced with drugs, because she fell unconscious after consuming it. After this, she was carried to a well by car.

“When I opened my eyes, another man — Nishu — was present there and the three of them raped me,” said the complainant.
