The New Delhi district police arrested a businessman who had allegedly helped a 40-year old woman to extort money from BJP MP KC Patel. A city court had declared him a proclaimed offender.

Ajay Kumar alias Ajay Pal Chauhan is said to have been a plan of the conspiracy wherein the woman had "honey-trapped" the MP and tried to extort around five crore rupees from him. The court had issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against Ajay Kumar but it could not be put in order as he was said untraceable.

Kumar was arrested after the police received secret information about his whereabouts in Connaught place. The court sent him to two-day police custody. The court dismissed his anticipatory bail and he would now be produced in the court on Monday.

KC Patel, MP from Valsad claimed that a woman-led gang took him to a house in Ghaziabad, spiked his drink and then filmed him in an objectionable manner. While the woman has alleged that the MP raped her on several occasions, Patel claimed he was drugged and obscene videos and photos were shot by her.

Patel also alleged that the gang had been blackmailing him and threatening to make the video clips viral if he did not pay Rs 5 crore. The court has sought an action taken report in the matter and police have launched an investigation. No rape case has been registered against Patel yet.
