The Indian meteorological department has warned of heavy to very heavy rain in the next few days in Delhi and NCR. The national Capital and its neighbouring cities received light drizzle and rain on Tuesday, bringing the mercury down.

Delhi woke up to a cloudy morning which soon translated into light rain and drizzle in some parts of the city. Dhaula Kuan, South Extension, central Delhi and peripheral parts received light rain. The sky remained cloudy, making the weather pleasant. The maximum temperature was recorded at 30 degrees Celsius, two degrees below season's average. The minimum temperature meanwhile was 26 degrees Celsius.

According to the IMD, heavy to very heavy rain is expected to lash Delhi as we as neighbouring states of Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh.

The national Capital was crippled last month when heavy rains lashed the city few times. Traffic jams were witnessed across Delhi and its National Capital Region because of the heavy rains, bringing life to a standstill. In some cases, since rains lashed during peak office hours in morning and evening, serpentine queues of vehicles blocked roads for several hours. Many parts of Delhi including north, north-west, south, east and peripheral areas were deluged with water. Waterlogging threw life out of gear as residents complained of indifferent civic agencies. In Ghaziabad, a road had caved in, exposing few housing societies to risk. Noida was also flooded in the last rainfall in July, with cars and buses wading through knee-deep water.
