Parents and local gathered outside the private school in Greater Noida on Monday where a three-and-a-half-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a lifeguard. The 300 people protested and sought answers about the safety of children in the school.

The parents were told that the principal would meet them because many questions were raised by the parents after the recent incident. However, the parents alleged that the principal is misleading them by saying not to believe in the rumours and nothing has happened inside the school.

Some of the parents also alleged that the school is hiding the facts. "How did the school not know about the incident for two days? The principal's statement is wrong," some parents said.

Meanwhile, the Gautam Budh Nagar district magistrate issued directives to hold meetings with the principals and the management officials of private schools in Noida and Greater Noida to discuss the grave issue of students' security.

The meeting for Greater Noida schools will take place on Tuesday, while for Noida schools, it will take place on Thursday at the DM's office in Sector 27, Noida. On Sunday, the DM also formed a committee to look into the alleged rape of the girl. The committee is to present its report within fifteen days.

"We carried a peaceful protest although the school administration didn't let us go inside. We wanted to highlight any lapse in security measures on the school's part and we demand a thorough investigation," said Devendra Tiger, president, Golden Federation of Residents Welfare Association, Greater Noida.

Later the association handed a memorandum to the district magistrate asking him for an in-depth investigation into the matter.

Police officials also said that the protest was a peaceful one. "No violent incident was reported," said Manoj Kumar Pant, station house officer of the Surajpur police station.

According to a social worker, the incident is really shameful. On one side the government promotes 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' and here we fear to send out our children to school. The administration should take strict action against the accused, while all the schools should assure the parents of the safety of the children.

ADM (administration) Kumar Vineet, the probe team member formed by DM said that two members of the committee reached the school on Monday for the inspection but we cannot reveal the inspection details now.
