In less than 24 hours over 350 students of Sharda University were booked for violence on campus. The Gautam Buddh Nagar administration has ordered police action against "outsiders" who are suspected to have flared up a "small" situation.

On Monday, two groups of India and Afghanistan students clashed with each other over a petty affair escalating tension between the student communities on the basis of faith and nationality.

The university management held a meeting with the District Magistrate BN Singh on Friday morning to restore faith in the foreign students and locals where the issue of outside elements role came to light. The students from both the communities said that they have no issue with each other.

"Multiple videos emerged which showed face-offs between student groups, following which we have called for a meeting. It has come to light that local anti-social elements are trying to disrupt peace in the campus as it is escalating Sharda University students' minor scuffle as a communal issue," said BN Singh, District Magistrate, Gautam Budh Nagar. The district magistrate has ordered to register FIR against Deepak Sharma under the NSA and to take strictest of the action against them.

While taking cognizance of the inflammatory videos, police have booked Deepak Sharma and Ved Nagar, Hindu right-wing activists, for rioting and instigating students. The duo had made inflammatory statements in the university campus and had also posted videos on Facebook.
