Girl killed, family members injured after being hit by vehicle in Nangloi

A 7-year-old girl was killed while her parents and brother received severe injuries after the two-wheeler on which they were returning home from a wedding party, was hit by an unidentified vehicle in Nangloi area, during the early hours of Monday. Police are trying to identify the vehicle.

According to the police, the accident took place around 1:15 am when the victim, identified as Priyanka Malhotra, was returning to her home in Dabri, with her father Surendra Malhotra, mother Seema and brother Mayank, after attending a marriage in Sultanpuri. Witnesses told the police that as soon as the family reached near Surajmal Metro station, they were hit by a speeding car.

"The impact of the collision was such that the girl was thrown away while her parents also sustained critical injuries. Hearing the sound of the accident, locals rushed to the spot and the family was taken to a hospital where Priyanka was declared dead on arrival and others were admitted for treatment," said a senior police officer.

Police said they have registered a case of rash driving and for causing death due to negligence against unknown person and that efforts to trace the accused vehicle are underway. CCTV footages are being checked to trace the accused.

The deceased girl's father owns a garment shop.
