The Crime Branch of Delhi Police busted a gang which would target only factories and godowns in Outer Delhi areas. Five persons have been arrested in this regard and goods worth lakhs have been recovered from them. The gang members would hire a truck to take away the robbed goods.

"The accused have been identified as Ravi Mandal alias Bengali (40), Ram Vilas Ram (38), Mohammad Mansoor Aalam (24), Anwar (30) and Dinesh Goyal. Nine cases of burglary committed during the last six months or so have been solved with their arrest. The goods recovered are worth over 15 lakh rupees," said Joy Tirkey, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Headquarters.

Tirkey informed that on Saturday evening, the team of police officials first apprehended Ravi, Ram Vilas, Mansoor and Anwar near a Gurudwara in Delhi. Later, Goel was arrested from his shop in Outer Delhi. Anwar and Goel were receivers of the stolen goods.

The accused told the police that Mandal is the kingpin of the gang who is also engaged in the street crime at railway stations and Sultapnpuri area in Outer Delhi. Mandal hails from Bihar and so do Vilas and Mansoor also. The three got together and formed their own gang."The gang had their first encounter with the police after they were caught in a burglary case from Samaipur Badli area in Outer Delhi. The three were jailed and were out on bail since February this year," added Tirkey.

To make sure that no one raised any suspicion on them, Ravi and Anwar rented a godown in Siraspur. The area houses a lot of factories and warehouses making it easier for them to recce and carry out robberies.

The gang would first check godowns and factories where guards had slept or did not have much security. Anwar and Ravi collectively bought a canter truck and would strike post midnight. Until they did not find a good receiver, they would hide the goods in their godown.

Investigating officials revealed that they are investigating the case and more arrests are likely to be made.
