The Crime Branch of Delhi Police arrested a wanted criminal and kingpin of Rajesh Kodiya gang, his brother and another gang member on Tuesday. One of the accused was also a Sarpanch of a village in Rajasthan. The Rajasthan Police were on the lookout for the accused for over two months in connection with a murder case.
"The kingpin of the gang is Rajesh Kumar Meena, alias Rajesh Kodiya (32), his brother Raj Kumar Meena, alias Sarpanch (26) and Dhara Singh, alias Raju (24). Raj Kumar is currently the youngest Sarpanch in Rajasthan. Two country-made pistols, six live cartridges and a Verna car stolen from Gujarat were recovered from them," said Bhisham Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch.
The trio had shot dead another gangster Hemraj of rival Anandpal gang in Karauli, Rajasthan. They were also involved in a forgery case where Rajesh and his gang members had made fake bail orders for the release of their associate from the jail. The police officials received an information that the accused gangsters would be coming to Dwarka from Haryana in a stolen Verna car. The police laid a trap arrested him.
The accused, Rajesh Kumar is a graduate and later started studying B.Ed and LLb in Jaipur. He was arrested in 2008 for murdering a college student along with his friends.
Rajesh then came back to his village and started farming. During this period, he got in touch with local criminals and later formed his own gang. The brothers, then moved to politics, and in 2015, Raj Kumar Meena fought and won the Panchayat election in their village.

In 2015, while Bhoora Singh was lodged in Hindoun jail, a dispute arose between him and Hemraj as they were lodged in the same cell.
After he was released from the jail, Hemraj decided to kill Bhoora.
