Four held by Delhi Police for robbing a money transfer facility of Rs 1.5 lakh

The police have also recovered cash worth Rs 75,000, a mobile phone and a country-made pistol.

The Delhi Police have arrested four persons accused of robbing the owner of a money transfer facility counter in East Delhi's Laxmi Nagar area, police said on Friday. The police have also recovered cash worth Rs 75,000, a mobile phone and a country-made pistol.

The accused have been identified as Mohhamad Inam (24), Sarib (24), Azharuddin (22) and Ali (22). Inam is a class 12 drop out and working as a property dealer in the area; Sarib worked as a labour; Azharuddin is a school dropout while Ali was currently jobless. They are all residents of Laxmi Nagar area.

"Sanjeev Gupta, owner of money transfer facility counter at Jagat Ram Park, filed a complaint at Shakarpur police station on 12 June, 2018. In his complaint he told the police that on the day of the incident around 3.45 pm three unknown people entered his shop on the pretext of getting money transferred but instead robbed him," said Pankaj Kumar Singh, DCP, East Delhi.

The accused decamped with around Rs 1.5 lakhs in cash, his mobile phone, a bag containing documents and cards on gunpoint. "While fleeing, they removed the Digital Video Recorder installed in the shop," said Singh.

As per senior police officials, Constable Monu played a significant role in unraveling the mystery and caught Sarib, who was arrested from Central Delhi area. On 13 June, 2018 Sarib was taken into custody and questioned. He first tried to mislead the police but later confessed to have been associated with this crime. Azharuddin and Ali were finally busted when they were trying to leave Delhi. On interrogation it was found that Mohammad Inam was the mastermind behind this robbery and later on he was also arrested.
