Former UP Guv Banwari Lal Joshi dies

Banwari Lal Joshi, former Uttar Pradesh Governor and former Lieutenant-Governor (L-G) of Delhi, died of a septicemic shock due to infected valves at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Friday. He was 81.

The former Governor of three states was admitted to the hospital 20 days ago, after he complained of discomfort in the chest. His family was at his side at the time of his death.

"He had got the valves replaced a decade ago, which recently led to an infection. He was given the routine treatment. On Friday at 1:38 pm, he was pronounced dead at the CTCCU," a source from the hospital said.

The former police officer was the UP Governor between 2009 and 2014. He was the Delhi L-G from 2004 to 2007 and served as the Governor of Meghalaya and Uttarakhand as well.
