Five theatre festivals to enjoy this summer in National Capital

Theatre aficionados in the Capital are in for a treat this summer with as many as five theatre festivals catering to all age groups lined up in May and June. Spanning across genres, an entertaining potpourri of plays will bring the audience face to face with stalwarts such as Rajit Kapoor.

One of these is the National School of Drama's Summer Theatre Festival, an annual event that will showcase plays by some of the country's most acclaimed playwrights. Delhi will host the festival from May 25 to June 18 and will feature more than 10 plays. The Summer Theatre Festival will be held at Abhimanch Auditorium and Kamani Auditorium.

The 13th Habitat Film Festival is screening a handpicked selection of 60 award-winning feature films and documentaries from more than 20 Indian languages. The festival, that began on May 19, is being held at the India Habitat Centre. It captures the churning felt across industries with reference to stories, receptive engagement with technology and inventive production choices. It will also feature an Om Puri Tribute Retrospective and an exhibition by KA Abbas.

Navrasa Duende will host the second edition of World Classic Movie Festival from June 15 to 17 at Siri Fort Auditorium. Featuring an appealing line-up from classics from world cinema, the festival will also include retrospectives on such acclaimed filmmakers as Ingmar Bergman, Akira Kurosawa, Andrei Tarkovsky, and many others.
