A group of five men allegedly fired upon and attacked a bouncer and a Nigerian national, outside a nightclub in South Delhi’s Hauz Khas on Friday night, after they were not allowed to enter the club.

The bouncer has been identified as Manoj and the Nigerian national as Nnamadi Makuochuk.

According to the police, the accused Rahul Chaudhry who stays in Madangir, had come to the nightclub with his four friends in an inebriated condition at around 12.15 am on the intervening night between Friday and Saturday. When denied entry, Chaudhry took out his country-made pistol and fired indiscriminately.

“After the firing, Nnamadi protested which led to a confrontation between him and Chaudhry.Chaudhry and his men stabbed him with knives on the chest and hand. Seeing this, the bouncer ran to Nnamadi to save him but he was overpowered by Chaudhry’s men, who also stabbed him,” said a senior police official.

Sensing trouble after the incident, the four men who had come with Chaudhry ran away, but Chaudhry was caught by locals who thrashed him.

Meanwhile, a PCR call was made and a police team reached the spot and arrested Chaudhry.

“Efforts are on to nab the other accused. We have registered a case under section 307 (Attempt to murder), 323 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code read with sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act.

We also have two empty cartridges and one Bullet motorcycle from the spot,” said Nupur Prasad, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, South district.

The injured bouncer and the Nigerian were admitted in AIIMS on Saturday morning and discharged by evening. The police are investigating further.
