Father strangles depressed girl in fit of rage

A father allegedly killed his daughter, as she tried to attack him in South-West Delhi's Dwarka area.

The family members did not inform the police but rushed her straight to hospital. Senior police officers said that they were called by the hospital authorities after it was revealed that rigor mortis had set in around eight hours back.

When questioned, officers said that the father, Balwan, 53, was vague about the details. "When he was questioned as to why he took the girl to the hospital eight hours after her death, he had no response. He was arrested on Monday on charges of killing his daughter," said a senior police officer.

The victim has been identified as Shweta, 29. She was undergoing depression due to personal issues.

On Friday night she attacked her father after a heated argument. In a fit of rage the father held her neck. He did not realise she had died until she collapsed on the floor.
