Contesting elections after sixteen years, Brahm Yadav is fighting Delhi assembly election for the first time on a Congress ticket. He contested from the same seat of Rajinder Nagar in 1998 but as an independent candidate and lost to BJP candidate Puran Chand Tyagi by a close margin. Brahm Yadav is contesting on ticket of Congress at a time when Congress is being seen as not so important player in the elections this season.

Iamin brings an exclusive interview with Brahm Yadav:

You are contesting elections after 16 years. What took you so long to come back and didn't Congress consider you in previous elections?

I don't know why Congress realized this so late. It may be because I was not the deserving candidate for them. As I have quite a lot of experience in politics and social work, Congress now believes that I am the only person who can bring them back from present crisis in this constituency.

Who is your stronger opponent R P Singh of BJP or AAP's Vijender Garg, and how confident are you of wining?

I'm 200 percent confident of my win because I think I'm better and more experienced than both the candidates. R P Singh has done nothing in 11 months but claims that he had spent Rs100 crore for the development for the area. I want to ask him, where he did he spent Rs 4 crore MLA fund allotted to him.

Is there leadership crisis in Congress?

There was never leadership crisis in Congress and will never be. I think BJP has leadership crisis that's why they have declared Kiran Bedi as CM candidate.

Women security is the main issue in Delhi. But Congress has given only four tickets to women. If Congress is itself not favouring women, how can they give security to women?

No woman is safe under BJP rule. We will first create a safe environment for women and then will give more tickets to them.
