The Delhi University on Tuesday announced that the online registration for the admission for postgraduate, MPhil and PhD programme will start from June 7 rather than from May 31 as it was stated earlier. The delay of seven days will further delay the admission process of the postgraduate, MPhil and PhD programme.

"The University of Delhi announces the revised admission schedule of PhD, MPhil., Postgraduate and Undergraduate (entrance based) Programmes for the academic session 2017-2018. The eligible applicants are informed that the registration process of all the programmes will be completely online from June 7 and the last date from registration will be June 20," the varsity said in the statement.

The university did not announce the starting date for registration of undergraduate entrance based programmes. Aspirants for some subjects, such as Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), Bachelor of Business Administration (Financial Investment Analysis), BA (H) Business Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences, Multimedia and Mass Communication, and BTech (Information Technology and Mathematical Innovations), have to appear for an entrance test.

In the meantime, to help out various students belonging to economically weaker section and non-creamy layer in post graduate admission process, the Delhi University has initiated a programme of free classes, pre-entrance summer school. The aim of the programme is to prepare students for the entrance examinations to the various PG courses. The students will avail the facility wherein they will be taught about the subject matter they seek to get admission. This programme basically will have classes for PG Entrance Examinations in five disciplines, that is English, Law, Mathematics, Physics and Zoology. "The duration of the classes will be about two weeks," the varsity issued a statement.

The candidates can take provisional admission to 'DU Pre-Entrance Summer School 2017' till they complete the application procedure by applying online for the PG Entrance Examination.

Online registration for admission in 60 UG courses in 62 colleges affiliated with the varsity, with around 54,000 seats, began on Monday at 6 pm. The admission process will continue till June 12.

In Post Graduate courses, English is the most sought after subject.

The varsity is scheduled to announce its first cut-off list on June 20.
