A Delhi tattoo artist was beheaded by three of his friends with choppers after he refused to return the money he had borrowed from them, police said on Tuesday.

Marks of injury on one of the three accused led to their arrest eventually. The deceased's body was found from Mayur Vihar area in East Delhi on Sunday.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Prashant Mishra (25), Ankit Sharma (19), and Inderjeet (27), who had beheaded the youth, identified as Babloo, with a coconut chopper.

"On Sunday afternoon, the police control room received a call at around 1:30 pm from Sonu, the deceased's brother, informing about Babloo's decapitated body being found in a vacant plot of Delhi Jal Board. The head was later recovered from the same plot," said Pankaj Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East).

Police said that during initial investigation, Sonu told police that Babloo left home on December 10 but did not return that nigh. Sonu, however, did not suspect anything initially, since his brother would often stay away for several days without informing anyone.

"While we were interrogating his friends, it came to light that Mishra, Sharma, and Inderjeet were last seen with him on December 10. The trio was questioned following this and they admitted to meeting the deceased on December 10, but said he left suddenly without informing them," said Singh.

While interrogating the three, police noticed an injury on Inderjeet, likely caused by a sharp object. Things turned even more suspicious when the accused couldn't explain how he sustained the wound.

"Long grilling sessions later, the three broke down and confessed to having committed the crime. They informed that Mishra had lend Babloo Rs 14,000 around three months ago, which he had refused to repay. The other two were on bad terms with Babloo," said Singh.

Police said that the three hatched a plan to kill him. So they lured the youth into sharing a few drinks with them on the pretext of partying at the vacant plot.

"They revealed that Mishra had arranged for two coconut choppers and they had pre-planned the murder plot. They got Babloo drunk, then chopped his head off and left the body at the spot," said Singh.

Police said they have recovered the two choppers and the blood stained clothes too.
