Delhi's most-wanted gangster Rajesh Bharti, among 4 gunned down in Chhatarpur major encounter

Delhi’s most-wanted gangster Rajesh Bharti was gunned down in a major encounter by the Special Cell of Delhi Police in South Delhi’s Chhatarpur area on Saturday afternoon. Eight police officers have also sustained injuries during the encounter.

Delhi’s most-wanted gangster Rajesh Bharti was gunned down in a major encounter by the Special Cell of Delhi Police in South Delhi’s Chhatarpur area on Saturday afternoon. Eight police officers have also sustained injuries during the encounter.

The residents in Fatehpur Beri’s Chanan Hola village area thought crackers were bursting in the area when several team of Special Cell officers landed up raining bullets at the criminals. Bharti along with three others was gunned down in the security operation. Over three dozen rounds were exchanged between the police and the criminals. While two were shot dead inside the car bearing an MLA sticker, others were killed during the chase.

“Out of eight police officers who sustained injuries six have sustained bullet injuries,” said Pramod Kushwah, DCP, and Special Cell.

Bharti was on the top in Delhi’s most-wanted gangster list and have even escaped from the custody of Haryana Police in February this year. He carried a reward of 1 lakh on his head. Bharti had over 28 cases of at cases of murder, extortion, car-jacking and robbery against him.The other members of the Bharti gang killed in the encounter have been identified as Vidroh, Umesh Don and Bhiku.
