A businessman lost his life after a minor early morning brawl on turned fatal on Delhi’s Bhalswa Flyover on Tuesday.

The victim has been identified as Vinod Mehra. The 43-year-old was returning home after attending a marriage function at one of the banquets on GTK Road.

The resident of Geeta Colony was driving his Wagon R when suddenly a van overtook him.

Soon, both Mehra and the occupants of that car started arguing and Mehra objected to their rash driving. Both vehicles stopped on Bhalaswa Flyover. At this point of time, one of the occupants of the other vehicle came out and fired one shot at Mehra. The bullet pierced his left side of the chest just below the heart.

Later, the businessman was rushed to a nearby hospital where he declared ‘brought dead’.

The police got to know about the incident when a PCR call was received at 2: 53 am regarding ‘gunshot injury on Bhalaswa flyover near GTK road’.

Mehra was travelling with his teenage nephew, who is the sole eyewitness in the case.

The teenager has reportedly managed to note down the registration number of the car involved in the road rage. His school teacher, who was also attending the same wedding, was the first person to help the victim.

However, the family alleges that the policemen who first came at the spot of the crime didn’t help the victim. They first took Mehra to Timarpur police station, instead of helping him, cops at station told them to go to the hospital first. Cops are tracing the van and its occupants.
