Delhi records 45 degree Celsius, rain to take its sweet time

The national capital continued to reel under scorching heat as it recorded a maximum temperature of 45 degrees Celsius on Friday. While the weather department had predicted light rain or drizzle on Friday, Delhi remained elusive from monsoon relief. According to the meteorological department, the weather will remain sultry with possibility of rain or thundershowers only towards the following week.

The Palam observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 45 degrees Celsius, which was 6.1 degrees more than the season's average. The minimum temperature settled at 30 degrees Celsius, two degrees above normal. The Safdarjung observatory, on the other hand, touched mercury at 43 degrees Celsius, 4.5 degrees Celsius more than average. The minimum counterpart meanwhile remained 30 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.

The weatherman says there will not be any relief from the searing heat and increasing humidity level till next week. Mercury will oscillate between 44 to 42 degrees Celsius till Wednesday, when rain is expected to lash the city.

Temperature is likely to drop on Wednesday to 40 degrees Celsius.
