The Special Cell of Delhi police on Friday arrested three accused in various cases of murder, extortion and carjacking from Dwarka. The accused persons had escaped arrest about three days ago after an encounter in which one of their associates was apprehended while two of them were left injured.

The arrested accused identified as Devender alias Sonu Kharkhadi, Shekhar and  Ravinder alias Dholu are part of the Kranti gang which has been accused of various murder and carjacking cases. On Tuesday the gang was trapped by a police team following a tip-off about their whereabouts.

Although three of them had managed to escape the encounter, another gang member Jitender alias Jitu was arrested after a brief gunfire, while Devender and Ravinder were badly injured.

The accused Jitu had taken over the gang after Special Cell had gunned down four members of the gang in an encounter in South Delhi.

The police had received information that Jitu would be coming in his car near Dhaula Kuan metro station to meet his associate.

Shekhar and Devender were both proclaimed offenders and authorities had announced cash prize of rupees fifty-thousand and one lakh respectively on their arrest.

“We had an input that the gang members will be visiting a doctor in Dwarka area, as they were badly injured and needed specialist care. We had employed a team at the spot and the accused were arrested from there after they were identified by the police team,” said Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell.
