A show of unity and theatrics entertaining the janta marked the launch of 'Dhol Andolan' by union minister Vijay Goel where local unit president Manoj Tiwari was also seen lending support. Both the leaders declared political war against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who they claimed, needed to be thrown out of power to save the city.

The leaders came suitably dressed to draw attention to their new agenda. Wearing black Nehru caps that had 'Kejriwal Bhagao, Delhi Bachao' written, and dhols hanging around their necks, both Goel and Tiwari played drum beats much to the amusement of other politicians and party workers present on the occasion. Goel, who is spearheading the campaign, quipped that he practiced the whole night to get the beats right. Describing the role of a dhol in the exercise, he said that the message that Kejriwal's government has ruined Delhi should be loud and clear as the sound of dhol and reverberate across the city.

Chanting 'Kejriwal hatao, Delhi bachao' in unison, the north east MP and the minister cut a figure of camaraderie, signalling that the two may be putting their differences behind ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Tiwari even handed over a mace to Goel, declaring that this was a "symbol of unity" from him.

It is common knowledge that Goel and Tiwari are not too fond of each other with the former being critical about the latter's style of politics, though both of always denied this. Goel has often pulled up Tiwari and other senior leaders on local matters, particularly sealing. In one of the state executive meets held last year, the Chandni Chowk MP displayed his annoyance towards the Delhi unit chief for neglecting traders who have been victims of the sealing drive. Sources share that the former Delhi BJP chief also feels Tiwari focuses only on Purvanchali vote bank as he hails from Bihar, sidelining all the other communities, specially baniyas to which the minister belongs.

Meanwhile, Goel hits out at the Aam Aadmi Party chieftain, saying he took Delhi for a ride with his false promises. "Kejriwal is good for nothing. All his projects- from mohalla clinics to public transport have failed. He should be shown the door this time," the parliamentary affairs minister said.
