According to the police, the accused has been identified as Arun Kumar, who had been absconding for the last three years in a murder case of a policeman.
The Ghaziabad Police on late Saturday night arrested a close aide and member of Anil Dujana gang. He was carrying a bounty of Rs 25,000 on him and was arrested from under the Hindon Canal Flyover on NH- 24 of Khoda area.
According to the police, the accused has been identified as Arun Kumar, who had been absconding for the last three years in a murder case of a policeman. Following a tip-off that Kumar would be coming to Khoda for some work, he was nabbed.
"We got information that the accused will be coming to Khoda area for some work. So, a trap was laid and he was nabbed. A 9 mm pistol and 3 live cartridges were recovered from his possession and he carried a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head," said Akash Tomar, Superintendent of Police (City), Ghaziabad.
Tomar further said that in 2013, the accused person had shot to death one Narendra Sharma in a property dispute, in which the dreaded Anil Dujana was also named as an accused. The victim's brother, Kuldeep was being pressurised by Dujana's henchmen not to testify against him. On
refusal, Dujana decided to bump off Kuldeep also and sent his men to kill him, but on not finding him, they fired on his father Rajkumar, in which he along with a police constable—deployed for his security—were killed. Since then, the accused Arun Kumar had been absconding. In 2017, a reward of Rs 25,000 was declared on his head.
"He was also involved in a number of cases of rape, attempt to murder, robbery and extortion," said Tomar.
Anil Dujana, an alleged gangster from Dujana village in Greater Noida, has over two dozen criminal cases lodged against him. These cases include those of murder, attempt to murder, smuggling and other serious crimes. While Dujana is currently in Banda jail, police said his gang members are still trying to carry out extortion activities in his name.
