Cops nab three who looted Rs 16 lakh from collection agents

The five criminals were part of the gang who had robbed Rs 16 lakh from two collection agents in Greater Noida on Monday. Police had launched a search for the criminals through electronic and manual surveillance.

The Uttar Pradesh Police arrested three wanted criminals of a gang, who had robbed Rs 16 lakh from two collection agents, in an encounter in the Kasna area of Greater Noida on Saturday morning.

The accused, who have been identified as Bhura, Kapil and Dinesh, were arrested after a brief encounter. Bhura had received a bullet injury on his leg and was arrested by the police while he was trying to escape. The two other associates who were accompanying him managed to flee.

"We had got a tip-off about the presence of criminals in a house D-410 in Sigma 1 of Greater Noida. The police team conducted a raid at the premises in the morning. Kapil and Dinesh were nabbed from inside the house," said Suniti, Superintendent of Police (Rural), Gautam Budh Nagar.

"While searching, three men on two bikes opened fired on the police. In cross firing, we managed to nab Bhura.

He has received a bullet injury on his leg while two other accomplices managed to flee from the spot. We are looking for them," she added.

Police have recovered Rs 4.20 lakh, two motorcycles, two countrymade revolvers, one knife and four live cartridges from their possession.

The collection agents were robbed by the criminals in Swarn Nagri when they were going on a bike to deposit the money in a bank. The victims Anuj and Neeraj, were residents of Masauta village in Sikandrabad. The criminals came on sports bikes, robbed the two persons at gunpoint and fled.

Bhura has been admitted to a district hospital where his condition is said to be stable.

The gang is believed to be involved in a murder and in a number of other cases of loot and extortion. Police said all the criminals are natives of Bulandshahr.
