Constable succumbs to injuries at AIMS; hit by vehicle while chasing arms dealers

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Rajpal Kasana, a resident of Ghaziabad, who as undergoing treatment after being hit since Monday.

A head constable of Delhi police posted at Special Cell, succumbed to his injuries in a hospital late on Saturday night at AIIMS Trauma Centre in Delhi. Police said that Rajpal Kasana, was fighting for his life since Monday after being hit by an unidentified vehicle while chasing arms suppliers on Barapullah elevated road. While efforts are being made to identify the vehicle.

According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Rajpal Kasana, a resident of Ghaziabad, who as undergoing treatment after being hit since Monday.

"On Monday at around 3 pm, we had a tip off that arms supplier would be coming from Ghazipur border side to RK Puram via ISBT Sarai Kale Khan and Barapullah elevated road. A team was formed including Head Constable Rajpal Kasana and others. Kasana and Mohit Panwar were on their motorcycle when they spotted the suspect in a car they started chasing by keeping a safe distance. On the Barapullah elevated road, another vehicle hit their motorcycle from behind and fled away," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah.

Following the accident, Kasana received severe head injuries and he along with Panwar were rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he succumbed to his injuries.

"Kasna joined Delhi police in 1998 and was transferred to special cell in 2006. He played a vital role in the arrest of Mewati criminal Salli Khan along with his seven associates after exchange of fire in the year 2013 and which he was promoted as Head Constable," said Kushwah.
