Unhappy with the Delhi High Court's order of setting aside the disqualification of 20 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs in the office-of-profit case on Friday, the Congress said that it would fight the case in the Election Commission (EC) and urged the poll panel to hear the matter afresh.

"We will fight it out in the Election Commission again as these 20 MLAs have enjoyed perks. HC has not disputed or denied this. The HC has just asked ECI to look at it again in the light of natural justice!," Congress's Delhi unit president Ajay Maken tweeted.

"The HC has given only partial relief, and at the most, the 20 MLAs can enjoy a reprieve for two more months," he said.

Maken said that the AAP government itself had admitted before the Election Commission that a huge amount was spent on office, furniture, transportation and perks for these MLAs who worked as Parliamentary Secretaries. "The Election Commission will once again disqualify these MLAs after re-hearing their case. The court order to set aside the President's order was not a setback in the case, as the EC has the option of challenging the order in the Supreme Court. These MLAs cannot escape disqualification," Maken said.
