Cab driver arrested for sexual assault a five-year-old girl in Outer Delhi's Shahbad Dairy area

A 34-year old cab driver has been arrested for sexually harassing a five-year-old girl inside the van in which he would drop her. The incident took place in Outer Delhi's Shahbad Dairy area. The accused cab driver has been arrested by the police.

According to the police the accused identified as Suraj Kumar resides in a slum cluster in the area. On Monday the victim's mother asked her to go to the school but she refused to go. Later on when her mother asked her she informed her that the driver would do "bad things" with her. The girl told her mother that the driver would forcefully make her sit on the front seat in the van and touch her appropriately. Based on the statement of the girl a case under sections of rape and POCSO was registered. Police are probing if the accused had assaulted other children or made videos of them. The mobile phone of the accused has been seized by the police.

The girl's mother also told the police that the girl had been quiet and would mostly stay indoors and each time she was asked to get ready for school she would be apprehensive.

A medical examination of the girl confirmed the assault.

The driver of the cab had also threatened the girl. During interrogations the accused confessed to the crime. The police have seized the school van of the accused.

She was admitted to the private school a year back. The cab was hired by her parents in June this year.

The victim’s mother said her daughter has become quiet for past few days. She was not interested in going to school and always get depressed when school’s name was mentioned.
