After Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh's recent debut in Delhi to promote Congress in the national Capital, cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu hit the campaign road for the April 9 by-election. Popular for his humour, Sidhu once again stole the show with his hard-hitting speech, while addressing the residents of Rajouri Garden on Friday.

"Voters have understood the corrupt ways of other political parties, which have been fooling them for long. This time, they do not need to support these corrupt leaders," Sidhu said.

He was accompanied by Delhi Congress Chief Ajay Maken, party candidate for Rajouri Garden Assembly by-election, Meenakshi Chandela, former MP Mahabal Mishra, and other senior leaders of the party. "The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which came to power in Delhi with absolute majority, has stalled all development works. Kejriwal has squandered the hard-earned money of Delhi's tax payers for self-publicity and political gains in Punjab and other states," Maken said.

"Victory of the Congress candidate in Rajouri Garden will be the victory of truth and the victory of an ordinary Congress worker. This will not be the victory of those forces that mistakenly believe that they can win this election with money and power. Voters have to decide whether they want to elect a grassroot level Congress worker or the one foisted on them by a parachute," Sidhu added.

There are 167,991 voters in Rajouri Garden constituency. The counting of the votes will take place on April 13.
