The house of the media advisor of law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, was ransacked by unidentified miscreants in Rohini district of Delhi in the early hours of Tuesday. The burglars made away with cash, jewellery and important documents. A case has been registered in this regard. The house is merely 500 metres away from Rohini (South) police station.

According to the police, the house belonged to N N Kaul, the media advisor to Prasad, who was away from his house in sector 3 Rohini when neighbours informed him about the incident in the morning at around 7:30 am.

"I had come down from my morning walk, when I noticed that the grill of a window of Kaul's house was fallen. I peeped inside the house through the window and saw that it was ransacked. I immediately informed the police," said Kaul's neighbour who didn't want to be named.

According to the complainant, Kaul, who was at his daughter's house in Noida since September 15, rushed back to his house.

"The neighbours noticed broken window of the house and informed us. We immediately rushed to back home and found that the entire house was ransacked. Initially it seems like LED TVs, decoration items, Rs 50,000 cash, jewellery, laptop and at least a dozen expensive saris are missing. We are checking on more things," said Kaul.

According to the police, a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal code has been registered and they were scanning footage from CCTV cameras in nearby areas in search of clues.

"The back door of the house was found to be open so it is suspected that the thieves entered from the window and took away the valuables through the back door. We also suspect the involvement of a close relative who knew that the owner of the house were away. Further investigation is under way," said a senior police officer.

Kaul also alleged that this was not the first time that such an incident has happened. Four years ago, when he and his wife were on a trip to abroad, a similar incident has occurred.
