Bharatiya Janata Party's Delhi unit continued its protests against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government with it leaders gheraoing the residence of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday. From the latest controversy involving the assault on the Chief Secretary to 1984 riots, the BJP touched upon a lot of issues to target the AAP.

Led by senior party leader, Kuljit Singh Chahal, the protesters raised slogans against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Sisodia for behaving like "urban Naxalites". The BJP members criticised the AAP for failing to deliver on its promises of providing basic civic amenities like water, electricity to the people, particularly referring to Sisodia's constituency of East Delhi.

Chahal said that the Kejriwal-led government has failed miserably in the last three years, and the latest incident of the top bureaucrat in the state being attacked is an example of constitutional breakdown."This government is all talk and no action. They only want to destroy the administrative machinery of the national Capital. Look at how the residents of unauthorised colonies and areas like Patparganj are suffering under the AAP. Sewage lines have remained blocked in unauthorised colonies like Vinod Nagar, making people susceptible to diseases. This part of Delhi is also grappling with severe water crisis and lack of schools and mohalla clinics," said Chahal.

Protests were also held in different parts of the city by other BJP leaders. In Patel Nagar, Rajesh Bhatia lashed out at Kejriwal for undermining the faith of voters who brought him to power. "They had pinned a lot of hope on this government. But all it could do was get neck deep into nepotism and corruption," Bhatia said. The protesters demanded that the CM should step down, and apologise for the alleged assault on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash.
