The Beating Retreat ceremony on Tuesday will officially mark the closure of the Republic Day 2019 celebrations. The road leading to the Vijay Chowk, where the ceremony will be held, will be closed during the event. 

Restrictions will also be placed at entry and exit at two metro stations in central Delhi.

Delhi Traffic Police has made elaborate arrangements for Beating Retreat ceremony and illumination of Rashtrapati Bhawan, North Block, South Block, and Parliament House. 

The Delhi Traffic Police has been constantly updating commuters about the congestion through its Twitter handle.

You need to read this traffic police advisory and metro restrictions before heading out today:

Traffic Restrictions:

The following traffic diversions have been planned for January 29, 2019. These diversions will remain in force from 3:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
 
1. Vijay Chowk will remain closed for general traffic.
2. Traffic will not be allowed on the following stretches:-
 
(a)   Rafi Marg between R/A Sunehri Masjid and R/A Krishi Bhawan.
(b)   Raisina Road from R/A Krishi Bhawan towards Vijay Chowk.
(c)    Beyond R/A Dara Shikoh Road, R/A Krishna Menon Marg and R/A Sunehri Masjid towards Vijay Chowk.
(d)   Rajpath between Vijay Chowk and “C” – Hexagon which will be totally pedestrianised.
 
General public/motorists are advised to take alternate routes i.e. Ring Road, Ridge Road, Aurobindo Marg, Madarsa ‘T’ Point, Safdargunj Road, Karnal Ataturk Marg, Rani Jhansi Road, Minto Road etc.

Diversions for DTC buses
 
DTC and other city buses shall be diverted from their normal routes from 1:00 pm to 9:30 pm to facilitate the vehicles of invitees and spectators and to avoid traffic congestion on roads around the venue of the ceremony and India Gate.
 
1. Buses bound for Central Sectt. and Connaught Place coming from Shantipath – Vinay Marg –Sardar Patel Marg will take Panchsheel Marg-Simon Boliver Marg-Vande Matram Marg –R/A Shankar Road – Park Street.
2. Buses bound for Central Sectt. will terminate at Udyan Marg and return via Kali Bari Marg-Mandir Marg-Shankar Road.
3. Connaught Place bound buses will take Mandir Marg, Kali Bari Marg, - G.P.O.-Baba Khadak Singh Marg and reach Connaught Place and return via Bhagat Singh Marg – Peshwa Road- Mandir Marg-Shankar Road and Vande Matram Marg.
4. Buses coming from South Delhi on Tughlaq Road and bound for Connaught Place/ Central Sectt. will be diverted from Aurobindo Chowk to Safdargunj Road- Kamal Ataturk Marg- Panchsheel Marg- Simon Boliver Marg and follow the route as mentioned at SL. No. 1.
5. Buses coming to Mandi House and Feroz Shah Road and proceeding to Connaught Place via Barakhamba Road will terminate at Shivaji Stadium and return via Kasturba Gandhi Marg.
6. Connaught Place bound buses coming on Shahjahan Road will proceed to Shivaji Stadium via Aurbindo Chowk – Safdargunj Road – Kamal Ataturk Marg – Panchsheel Marg and beyond.
7. Buses bound for Old Delhi Railway Station, Red Fort and ISBT Kashmere Gate coming from South side will take Ring Road from AIIMS towards Dhaula Kuan and then Ridge Road, Rani Jhansi Road.
8. Buses bound from Old Delhi Railway Station, Red Fort and ISBT Kashmere Gate coming from Ashram side will take Ashram Chowk – Ring Road towards Sarai Kale Khan and proceed further via Raj Ghat.
9. Buses coming from  Old Delhi Railway Station, Red Fort, Kashmere Gate and bound for South and South-East will take Delhi Gate – Jawaharlal Nehru Marg – Rajghat – Ring Road – Sarai Kale Khan – Ashram Chowk.
10. Buses coming from Vikas Marg and bound for South will take Ring Road – Sarai Kale Khan –Ashram Chowk.
11. Buses coming from Connaught Place via Kasturba Gandhi Marg towards India Gate will take Minto Road – DDU Marg – I.P. Flyover – Ring Road – Sarai Kale Khan.

Metro entry/exit restrictions:
 
Entry and exit at two metro stations in central Delhi will be closed for few hours on Tuesday as part of security arrangements for the Beating Retreat ceremony, a senior DMRC official said Monday.

Entry and exit facilities at the Central Secretariat station and the Udyog Bhawan station will not be available from 2 pm to 6.30 pm, he said.

However, entry or exit at the Central Secretariat station will be allowed from gate no. 1 only from 2 pm to 4 pm, while the rest of its gates will remain closed during this period, he said.

However, interchange facility for passengers from Line 2 or Yellow Line (Huda City Centre-Samaypur Badli) to Line 6 or Violet Line (Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh) and vice versa will be allowed at the Central Secretariat Metro station during this period.

Normal services at these stations will be restored at 6.30 pm, the official said.

Parking
 
Parking will be available for those coming to see illumination at Vijay Chowk behind the water channels between Rafi Marg and ‘C’ Hexagon (after 7 PM). 

Instructions to general public by Delhi Police
 
In case of any unidentified object or suspicious persons being seen, information must be conveyed to the nearest policemen on duty.
 
General Public and motorists are advised to keep patience, observe traffic rules and road discipline and follow directions of traffic personnel and remain updated through Traffic Police Facebook Page, Twitter Handle and Traffic Police Helpline. People are requested to plan their journey accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
