Bassi invites Kejriwal for at-home ceremony of Delhi Police Raising Day

Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi on Monday invited Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for the at-home ceremony of the Raising Day ceremony of the force. "I had come here to invite our Chief Minister for the at-home ceremony of the Raising Day ceremony of Delhi Police. He has accepted our invitation and noted down the time," Bassi said.

Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, addressing the 68th Raising Day function of the Delhi Police, said the force should take the lead to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream of 'SMART Police' (S-Sensitive and Strict; M-Modern with mobility; A- Alert and Accountable; R- Reliable and Responsive; T- Trained and Techno-savvy).

He also said that the new procedure for issuing Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is a step towards that direction. "I am aware of the challenges facing Delhi Police; providing security to a diverse city like Delhi is an extremely difficult task. In spite of all these challenges, Delhi Police's performance has been excellent," he added.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh also called upon the Delhi Police to focus on providing security to people from the North Eastern Region (NER). He said that the people from the North Eastern Region should not feel alienated in the national capital.
