After hitting out at each other for failing to bring down the pollution levels in the region, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar met in Chandigarh on Wednesday, to assert their commitment to devise a collective solution to the problem to prevent smog next year.
Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh had turned down Kejriwal's request to meet him, saying such a meeting would be futile.
In the two-hour meeting, several other long-pending issues related to construction of roads and non-payment of water dues were also put on table.
"Territories can be different, but nobody can control movement of wind. When there is pollution, wind steers it towards other boundaries. There is a need for collective solution," Kejriwal said.
Haryana CM Khattar, who had earlier lambasted Kejriwal for blaming farmers for stubble burning, said the meeting was fruitful.
