Two days after a criminal was shot dead outside Rohini court as a fallout of an alleged gang war, there was mayhem once again on the streets of Rohini when another criminal, Bhupinder alias Monu Dariya Pur, wanted for several cases, his aide and his PSO, a Delhi Police Assistant Sub Inspector were shot dead by unidentified assailants, while another police constable was shot at and injured.
The incident took place around 11.30 pm on Sunday in Paschim Vihar area when Bhupendra, who was also a witness in a case of attempt to murder on himself, was sitting in his car with his friend Arun, and two Personal Security Officers (PSOs) Assistant Sub Inspector Vijay and a Constable Kuldeep, near National Market in the locality.
Senior police officers from the district, who also rushed to the spot, said that suddenly a group of men arrived at the spot on two two-wheelers and a car, and rained bullets on the white car, giving the occupants no time to respond. "Witnesses and locals said that they heard firing and saw a few men fleeing. The car was full of blood and three men were lying motionless. The Police Control Room was informed and a crime and forensics team was rushed to the spot. The car, be it seats, windshield or dashboard, were penetrated with bullets," said a senior police officer.
Primary investigations have revealed that Dariya Pur, who was a financer as well as a property dealer, also had criminal cases registered against him. It is also suspected that the killings could be fallout of a property related dispute, however, DCP Madhur Verma, spokesperson Delhi Police said that all angles are being looked into and the deceased's family is being questioned to know more. Some suspects have been detained and are being questioned, he said.
While ASI Vijay succumbed on the spot, the constable, who was shot in the hand, was rushed to a hospital where he is being treated. A case on his account was registered under IPC sections 302, 307,34, 25 and 27 Arms act at police station Mianwali Nagar and the case had been taken up for investigation.
"We are looking for CCTV footages from the area to identify the accused or the vehicles used by them. About 30 to 50 empty cartridges were recovered by the forensics team from the spot. Bodies have been sent for post mortem examination and family members of the deceased were informed," the police said.
