Delhi Police arrested a Bhojpuri actor and his live-in partner who had kidnapped the man's two-year-old son in southeast Delhi to teach a lesson after she filed for divorce. To mislead the cops, the actor initially joined the probe but later fled, coming under police's suspicion.
The duo was arrested in a raid and the child was recovered from them. On interrogation, the man said he wanted to teach his wife a lesson as she did not let the child meet him, police said.
The accused has been identified as Shahid, a resident of Batla House in Jamia Nagar and his live-in partner as Sunaina Sharma alias Alisha. According to the police, on June 26, a case was registered where mother of a two-year-old boy alleged that his son has been kidnapped and filed a missing report. When no clue about the child could be gathered, an award of Rs 20,000 was also declared on information regarding the child.
"During investigations, the father of the child, who has also acted in a Bhojpuri movie, had been living away from his wife, also joined the probe. However, the police noticed after about a week that the child's father was absconding.
They then traced him and tried to contact him but he avoided them. On this, several raids were conducted in Delhi and various part of Uttar Pradesh but the man could not be found," said RomilBaaniya, DCP southeast.
Baaniya said, it was on Monday, that following a tip-off, police team conducted a raid at an identified hideout of the man in east Delhi'sMandawli area, from where the accused Shahid, along with his live in partner Sunaina, was found. They were then arrested from the spot and the child was recovered from the duo's custody.
