Students of Delhi University (DU), led by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), organised a demonstration outside the Delhi Police headquarters on Wednesday, to protest against the "police inaction" in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) sedition case, over one year after the incident.

Students said it was because the police did not investigate the previous case properly and failed to file a chargesheet that the DU was also witnessing students raising anti-national slogans. The DU campus has been witnessing student protests for the last few days.

Holding placards, students raised slogans such as "Gaddaron par reham karne wali Delhi Police sharam karo", "where is the chargesheet Mr Patnaik (Delhi Commissioner of Police Amulya Patnaik)? Take action now!".

"Though police have videos, there has been no action. It has been over a year and there is no chargesheet. Because of this, anti-national slogans were raised in DU as well on February 22. The police have that video also," ABVP National Media Convenor Saket Bahuguna said.

When queried, Special Commisioner of Police, Dependra Pathak, said, "It is a sensitive case and the investigation is underway. A chargesheet in the case will be filed after the investigation is complete."

When asked about a video in which protesting students can be seen shouting "Kashmir maange azaadi aur Bastar maange azaadi", Pathak said the Delhi Police were conducting a professional examination of the video.
