Commenting on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Prashant Bhushan's statement suggesting a referendum in Jammu and Kashmir to decide whether the people want the army to handle internal security Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Monday said that the AAP was talking like separatists and were no less than Jihadis. "They are speaking like separatists. They have been saying it repeatedly, and now they are altering it. This is their first national agenda. They are just jihadis with gentleman's face," said Naqvi.
"They are saying that referendum should be there on deployment of the Army in Kashmir, tomorrow they will say referendum should be there for Kashmir. Army people are fighting for the country's security. How can they question Army men?" asked Naqvi.
Congress leader Manish Tewari said that Jammu and Kashmir was a very sensitive issue and should be handled carefully. Jammu and Kashmir is a very sensitive matter. It embodies and signifies the idea of India and commenting on it should be we thought. We need to be very careful before giving any reaction.
Congress leader Sanjay Singh said that the AAP should be aware of the consequences of what they say. "It is important for AAP to realise that they are no longer an NGO. They should be aware of the consequences of what they say," said Singh. "Politics is a very serious issue. Arvind Kejriwal said that he doesn't agree with Prashant Bhushan but one should be careful when speaking on such a sensitive issue," he said.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had earlier said that he disagreed with Bhushan's comment on Kashmir.
Bhushan on a television channel had said that that in keeping with participatory democracy, locals in the Kashmir Valley should be allowed to determine whether they want the army for internal security or not. "It is very important to take the wishes of the people into consideration about their own security," he said.
