Besides the donation, the AAP-led Delhi government on Friday had announced a relief of Rs 10 crore for Kerala.
The Aam Aadmi Party on Saturday announced that all party MPs, MLAs, and ministers will donate a month's salary for the ongoing relief work in flood-hit Kerala. Hundreds have died while many have lost their houses to the widespread destruction caused by floods following incessant rainfall.
Besides the donation, the AAP-led Delhi government on Friday had announced a relief of Rs 10 crore for Kerala.
Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal chaired a meeting with officials concluding that each and every party person will contribute to the cause. "All AAP MLAs, MPs and ministers (are) donating one month salary for Kerala," he tweeted after the meeting.
He also directed all offices of the Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to operate as donation centres from where the aid will be sent to the flood-ravaged state.
The Delhi government will also issue advertisements for mass awareness in the Capital requesting people to donate generously. The people will be requested to donate blankets, clothes, and bed-sheets through these advertisements.
Besides, the government will send large numbers of bottled water, biscuits, and dry food. "The Chief Minister has directed the officials to send the material as soon as possible," the Delhi government said in a statement.
Earlier on Friday, Kejriwal also spoke to Kerala counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan and had extended his support. "Spoke to Kerala CM. Delhi government is making a contribution of Rs 10 crore. I sincerely appeal to everyone to donate generously for our brothers and sisters in Kerala (sic)," he had said.
The Chief Minister asked the resident commissioner of Kerala to keep him apprised of the requirements in days to come. "Keep us informed, so that we can pitch in whatever is required for the affected people. We are always there to help and will keep sending materials required," he said.
