The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) released its manifesto for the upcoming municipal polls on Wednesday, promising to give a push to the cleanliness drive in the national Capital and complete eradication of corruption from the civic bodies.

"We will make Delhi a garbage-free city within a year. We will use the best technology to serve the purpose," party Chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said during the manifesto launch.

Taking a jibe at the Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Kejriwal said, "All of us joined the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, but Delhi BJP back-stabbed its own leader, PM Narendra Modi, by keeping the city dirty."

Warning the people of Delhi against electing the BJP again, Kejriwal urged them "to save their city from the menace of garbage, which was leading to massive mosquito breeding". "AAP will make Delhi free of dengue and chikungunya in the next three years," he said.

Among other major promises, the party reiterated that it will waive house tax in residential buildings, provide a single grievance helpline for the government and the MCD, get rid of landfills by 2019, build community centers and public toilets, and regularise weekly bazars and unauthorised colonies.

"AAP will put an end to corruption and bribery in the MCD, and will also make the corporation financially robust within a year," the CM said.

In a bid to woo sanitation workers, the party gave considerable importance to their issues in the manifesto. From regularisation of contractual workers to health insurance for their families, the manifesto had a lot to offer. "The salaries of safai karamcharis will be transferred directly into their bank accounts by the 7th of every month," it read.

"Safai karamcharis will get free-of-cost protective gear, such as masks, gloves, boots etc, to ensure safety and dignity during work," it further read. "If selected, we will make MCD schools centres of excellence and provide world-class facilities at MCD hospitals and dispensaries," the manifesto added.

Taking a dig at the Delhi Congress, Kejriwal said the party had no future in the city. "Congress is already dead in Delhi. I request Delhiites to not waste their votes on them," he said.
