9-year-old boy stabbed multiple times

The naked body of a nine-year-old boy was found inside a park in southeast Delhi's Pul Prahladpur area on Tuesday evening. The family members of the deceased have alleged that he was tortured before being murdered.

According to the police, prima facie it appeared that the boy was stabbed multiple times by a screwdriver-like tool. The body also bore burn marks, seemingly made by cigarettes. Since the body was found without clothes, the police have not ruled out the possibility of sexual assault.

"The police received the information regarding the body lying in the park behind the DDA flats at 6.25 pm on Tuesday," Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Romil Baaniya said. He added that a case of murder and destruction of evidence has been registered against the unidentified accused.

The family members of the boy are shocked at the gruesome crime. The deceased lived with his parents and sister in the area. The boy had gone out to play with his friends before disappearing. Initially, when they couldn't find him, his parents thought he must have taken shelter somewhere as it was raining. When he did not return for a long time, they informed the police.
