A Nigerian national, in possession of over 250 grams of heroin, amounting to over 26 lakh rupees has been arrested. He was earlier arrested by the Mohali Police and was released from the jail in May this year only.

"The arrested person has been identified as Justin, a resident of Lagos, Nigeria. He was previously arrested by the Punjab Police in a case of drug trafficking. He finished his time in the jail and moved to Delhi in order to continue supplying drugs," said Dr G Ram Gopal Naik, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch. Naik further added that 260 grams of heroin amounting to Rs 26 lakh has been recovered from him.

A team of Crime Branch officials laid a trap and arrested the accused from Palam area near Dabri in South-West Delhi. During his personal check, the drug was recovered from his possession.

Justin told the investigating officials that he had visited the country on a business visa in 2011. He later started exporting clothes to Nigeria from Ludhiana, but due to heavy losses, he could not continue the business.

His local network with people in Punjab was strong and they introduced him to heroin, and gradually started consuming it as well. Justin then started supplying drugs to his friends from Nigeria who would consume it too.

"In 2015, he was arrested by the Mohali Police in possession of the drug and was convicted by the court in the case. He then finished his term till this year May 2017 and came to Delhi post his release. Since he had no money, he again started supplying the drug. He would often conceal the drugs in audio speakers," added Naik.
