A 19-year-old girl committed suicide after her tuition teacher allegedly sexually harassed her for almost a year in the Kavi Nagar area of Ghaziabad. The police on Friday arrested the teacher, Atuk Yadav after they found the girl's suicide note stating that he was responsible for harassing her.
According to police, Rashmi, 19, was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her room in Sriram enclave at Lalkuan. The incident was reported to police at around 9 am.
"A PCR call was made by a neighbour about the incident and after reaching there, she was found hanging on the ceiling fan of her room. We have received a suicide note from the spot and have sent the body for postmortem," said Akash Tomar, Superintendent Of Police (City), Ghaziabad."
According to the suicide note accessed by DNA, Rashmi has written that she was being harassed every day for almost a year by her English tutor, Atul Yadav.
"She stated that the only reason that forced her to take this extreme step was Yadav," Tomar added.
Speaking to DNA, Satish Chand, the deceased's father, stated that Rashmi was alone at home when the incident took place. Police have arrested Yadav following a complaint filed by her father.
According to a senior police officer, Yadav ran an English coaching centre outside Sriram enclave and lived on rent at Rashmi's house. She had been studying at his coaching centre for the last two years.
Meanwhile, the accused told police that Rashmi was in a relationship with Yadav and she was pressing him for marriage. But he refused to marry her as he was already married," said Neeraj Kumar Singh, station house officer, Kavi Nagar police station.
