An alleged incident of racial discrimination and assault of a foreign national was reported from Greater Noida's Sharda University after few videos were uploaded to a Facebook page. The videos show the guards lifting a foreign national student and trying to throw him out of the campus.

The university suspended 7 guards, including two marshalls, three security guards, one field officer and one assistant security officer after the videos surfaced online. Police have registered an FIR against 10 unnamed people, including the chairman and the vice-chairman of the university.

On Friday, District Magistrate BN Singh took cognizance of the reports and formed a committee to investigate the matter.

Ahmad Tameem, a Kenyan national, pursuing BBA at the university, alleged that that guards always treated him like a suspect even after having a university I-card. Taking cognizance of the matter, the district magistrate has ordered an enquiry, which will be conducted by SP (RA) Greater Noida Suniti and ADM (E) Kumar Vineet. Gautam Buddha Nagar.

"The SPRA and ADM (E) will investigate the matter and submit a report in two weeks. They will speak to all the foreign associations and assure them of safety. Whoever is found at fault, strict actions will be taken against them," said Singh.

On the directions of SSP Ajay Pal Sharma, police have recorded the statement of the victim and a probe has been ordered.

"Following his statement, we registered an FIR under relevant sections. He said that guards threw him out on the directions of the chairman and vice-chairman of the university," said Sharma.

"It was an unfortunate incident. It's not a matter of a foreign student. We do not support racial remarks. All the students are equal for us. We have also formed a committee to probe the matter and due action will be taken after the result is out," said a spokesperson of Sharda University.
