Ross Taylor surpasses Stephen Fleming, becomes New Zealand's leading ODI run-scorer

Ross Taylor surpassed legendary Stephen Fleming to become New Zealand's leading One-Day International (ODI) run-scorer on Wednesday. 

Taylor achieved the milestone during the third ODI between New Zealand and Bangladesh at University Oval, Dunedin. Prior to the game, Taylor (7,957 runs), who needed 50 runs to break the national record, scored 69 runs from 82 balls as he top-scored for his country in the innings. 

The former Kiwi captain also passed 8,000 runs during the innings, becoming the fourth-fastest batsman to the mark, behind Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Sourav Ganguly.

Taylor, who has well established as one of the greatest batsmen produced by New Zealand, has more ODI centuries and half-centuries than any of his countrymen, as well as boasting the highest average of any Blackcaps batsman with more than 500 ODI runs.

Having batted first on Wednesday, New Zealand posted 330 runs in 50 overs. The hosts have already won the three-match ODI series by winning the first two games but will look to finish the series on a high by winning the third ODI as well.
